The Loc-Line ecosystem

Over the past few months, we have been expanding the range of accessories we offer for our MicroFoggers and this has included the release of Loc-Line accessories. So what exactly does Loc-Line mean? Loc-line is a type of modular hose that consists of many smaller plastic sections that lock together to create a customizable, rigid airflow/liquid transport solution. When it comes to the MicroFogger, we use the Loc-Line system in order to connect accessories such as the circular diffuser to our smoke machines.

The benefit using our Loc-Line accessories over traditional hose-compatible ones is the added convenience of being able to position the hose in any point in space without having to hold it – something which is impossible with a normal rubber hose since it is not rigid. Depending on your use case, this can be an invaluable feature. Here are a few example use cases:

Tabletop Photography
Whether taking pictures of miniature figures or filming a food commercial, the Loc-Line system will let you setup your MicroFogger just out of frame and then bend the Loc-Line hose so that the smoke comes out of the desired location. Previously, with a flexible hose, you would have needed an assistant to hold it or you would have had to mount it to a 3rd party clamp but with Loc-Line, it stays just as you left it!

Airflow testing
When investigating airflows, a Loc-Line rake attachment can be secured near a outlet or duct and held there for long periods of time until the required data is collected. With a hose-mounted accessory, just as with the photography example, this would have required you to manually hold it. This is is also beneficial since the airflow testing technician does not need to be physically present, allowing for minimal air current disruption.

Now that we’ve explained the benefits of Loc-Line, lets talk about the products we offer! In order to use the Loc-Line accessories, you’ll need the following:

-The accessory itself (Loc-Line type rake attachment or circular diffuser)
-A length of 1/4″ Loc-Line hose, sections of which can be found in our shop*
-The MicroFogger Loc-Line adapter to interface it with your smoke machine
-(optional) Loc-Line assembly tool

*Please note that although accessories can be directly attached to the Loc-Line adapter without using a Loc-Line section , we don’t recommend doing so as the seal will be imperfect. If you want to mount the accessory as close as possible, we’d advise to have at least one Loc-Line segment in-between.

Once you’ve purchased the required items, getting setup is very easy. Just connect or disconnect Loc-Line sections until the desired length is reached, then attach one end to the Loc-Line adapter and the other to the accessory you want to use. Next, screw the LocLine adapter onto the MicroFogger. Once you’ve bent the the tubing into the shape you want, you’re good to go!

Thank you for reaching out! It is normal for LocLine interfaces to be very tight as this is required in order to get a secure, airtight fit. Generally, we recommend getting the LocLine assembly tool if you plan to change the length of the 10-link hose but when it comes to snapping it onto the LocLine adapter or connecting airflow attachments such as the liquid fog one, it shouldn’t be too difficult to just force it over the interface. Specifically for the liquid fog attachment, you can set it down on a flat surface and compress the foam while installing it to get a stable hold.
